Rainbow Photonics was founded as a spin-off from the Nonlinear Optics Laboratory of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in 1997. The company introduced and commercialized all-solid-state blue lasers and the novel compact infrared tunable laser. In the original product portfolio the company was producing and selling inorganic crystals and waveguides for laser and telecom market applications as well as organic crystals for terahertz generation and detection.
The company is now introducing terahertz systems (TeraSys 4000) and novel organic materials as generators and detectors of terahertz radiation. The engineering and production of this system requires experience and special knowledge that has been accumulated through extensive collaboration with the ETH-Zurich, and the experience of Rainbow Photonics AG as a laser manufacturer.
All our products are designed and manufactured in Switzerland.
